The League of Minority Voters is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering minority voices in community and government. Its mission is to fight for and promote the advancement of minority voters’ rights through education, empowerment, and mobilization.
- The organization is transitioning from state-level chapters to a national presence with infrastructure (headquarters)
- The Youth Councils initiative scales youth leadership nationally
- The political climate is urgent — bridging divides, mobilizing new voters, and restoring faith in democracy are critical now
- The Gala is a launching point for these ambitious, strategic investments
The League of Minority Voters was founded in 2007 by a multi-racial group of voters who believed that the challenges facing minority communities must be met with consistent advocacy and that what affects one community affects all.
- Core values: citizenship requires knowledge and willingness to act; good governance is the responsibility of all citizens; rights of majority and minority citizens are interdependent.
- Vision: to empower grassroots communities and chapters through education, training, and deliberative collective decision-making.
The Gala is a signature event that celebrates leaders in bipartisan civic engagement and raises funds to support the League of Minority Voters’ next phase of expansion. Proceeds will help establish the League of Minority Voters’ National Headquarters in Washington, D.C., and launch Youth Councils in 16 states. This will expand voter education, strengthen civic participation, and build national unity.
