In his hometown of Houston, Texas, Michael emerged as a champion of change. Michael began his journey as part of the Houston UNICEF Child-Friendly Cities Initiative Youth Council, which would ultimately go on to lead the fourth largest city in the nation to become the first-ever UNICEF Child Friendly City- a feat that marks Houston’s commitment to recognizing the rights of all children and actively working towards bettering their lives.

As a passionate child rights activist, Michael went on to chair the Houston Mayor’s Youth Council, working to increase community engagement and voter education for youth. In addition, Michael worked with fellow high school students around the nation on FEMA’s Youth Preparedness Council to increase emergency preparedness resources for youth.

Through his experience in youth advocacy, Michael has been made aware of the importance of providing a voice for those who are often ignored. Michael is equipped with the skills to take action and make a difference in promoting equity, skills that are indispensable when it comes to the LMV’s mission of increasing minority voting rights.

Michael graduated from Mirabeau B. Lamar High School in Houston, Texas, with an International Baccalaureate Diploma and will continue his education at Northwestern University pursuing a degree in Political Science.

In his free time, Michael enjoys spending time with friends, trying new food, and working out in the gym. He also enjoys working on cars, and cinematography using a drone to capture sunsets, city skylines, and nature scenes.
